Global Child Health Fellowship — Fellowship

The Global Child Health Fellowship is a two-year program run by the Centre for Global Child Health at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Fellows choose a research or capacity-building track and lead the design, delivery, analysis, or evaluation of a funded global child-health project.

The appointment is based at SickKids, with travel to study or program sites when appropriate. Education, mentorship, and structured supervision develop scholarly and leadership skills for global-health careers.

Fellows receive global child-health education and mentorship from experienced leaders.
A C-GCH core faculty member supervises or co-supervises each fellow, and a supervisory committee meets four times per year.

Eligibility

Track 1 applicants must have completed by the fellowship start either a relevant doctoral degree or a medical degree plus specialist certification or eligibility for certification. They must also show strong recent scholarship and a demonstrated interest in global health.
Track 2 applicants must qualify through one of three routes: a medical degree plus specialist certification or eligibility; a nursing or accredited allied-health degree plus a completed or in-progress master’s degree; or a completed master’s degree in global health, public health, education, evaluation, or a related field.
Track 2 applicants must have relevant experience designing, implementing, evaluating, coordinating, or managing health-system strengthening or health-worker training programs, but no minimum number of years is stated.
No nationality restriction is stated. For Track 2, applicants relying on a master’s, nursing, or allied-health qualification must be legally authorized to work in Canada; applicants with a medical degree may apply regardless of Canadian work authorization.
Clinical work is optional and limited to 20 per cent of full-time effort for eligible Ontario-licensed clinicians who independently secure a hospital placement.
