The Graduate Teaching Assistantship supports active master’s and doctoral students at United Arab Emirates University who take on teaching assignments in exchange for a monthly stipend. It is administered through the student’s department or college rather than through one university-wide application round.
The host unit defines the assignment and reporting line, while the supervisor provides periodic feedback. Openings may appear at any time and depend on departmental need and available funds; the teaching location follows the host graduate program in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Benefits & funding
- UAEU pays a monthly stipend; its central page does not publish a university-wide amount.
- The College of Engineering separately states AED 1,500–3,000 per month for its GTA roles, with the amount tied to assigned courses.
- UAEU provides health insurance when the assistant’s visa is sponsored by the university.
- An award lasts one year or less and may be renewed if eligibility continues and the supervisor gives a good performance appraisal.
- Assigned work averages no more than 20 hours per week.
Eligibility
- Be an active UAEU graduate student; the policy describes assistants as typically full-time master’s or doctoral students.
- Hold a GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0, measured in the prior qualifying degree for a newly enrolled student or in current graduate study for a continuing student.
- Have no other financial sponsorship.
- Applicants of every nationality are eligible, and no residency, age, gender or work-experience requirement is published.
- A college or unit may impose additional conditions for its own positions.
