Merit Scholarship is Bilkent University’s annual tuition-waiver award for students already enrolled in undergraduate programs. It is determined after the spring term for the following academic year, so there is no separate application.

Selection is based on annual GPA, the required curriculum load, and relative rank within the student’s program and fee group. The award is used at Bilkent University in Ankara, Türkiye.

Benefits & funding

  • The scholarship covers tuition at levels of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, or 100%, according to the recipient’s ranking.
  • For tuition-paying students, the first through fifth percentile receive waivers of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%, respectively.
  • For students already holding a 50% scholarship, the first three percentile bands correspond to scholarship levels of 100%, 80%, and 60%.
  • The award applies for the following academic year.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must already be enrolled in a Bilkent University undergraduate program; students in the English or French preparatory programs are not eligible.
  • Students must complete at least their program’s minimum curriculum course load and earn an annual GPA of at least 3.30 out of 4.00.
  • Tuition-paying students must rank in the top 5% of tuition-paying students in their program.
  • Students holding a 50% scholarship must rank in the top 3% of that scholarship group; international students with a partial tuition waiver must rank above their current waiver level.
  • The overall program is not restricted to one nationality, although international students follow Bilkent’s separate international-scholarship rules.
