The Research and Statistics Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York hires roughly twenty exceptional college graduates each year as Research Analysts. Analysts work alongside the Bank’s economists at 33 Liberty Street in Lower Manhattan and stay in the role for about two years. The work runs on two tracks: analysis of topical questions in public policy, financial markets and the U.S. and global economies, which often ends in reports or presentations to the Bank’s president and senior management; and long-term academic research on applied and theoretical topics, where many analysts co-author scholarly articles.
The next intake begins in summer 2027. The majority of analysts enter graduate or professional degree programs after leaving the New York Fed.
