Schulich Leader Scholarships support entrepreneurial-minded Canadian high school and cégep graduates entering eligible undergraduate STEM programs at 20 partner universities in Canada. The program is funded by The Schulich Foundation and co-administered with UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.
Candidates must first be nominated by their school or cégep. Partner universities then assess verified nominees and select the scholarship recipients.
Benefits & funding
- 100 scholarships are awarded annually across 20 partner universities.
- Engineering recipients receive CAD 120,000, normally distributed as CAD 30,000 per academic year for up to four years.
- Science, technology and mathematics recipients receive CAD 100,000, normally distributed as CAD 25,000 per academic year for up to four years.
- Recipients join the Schulich Leader network and have access to enrichment opportunities during the year.
- Recipients remain responsible for tuition, materials, housing and other attendance costs.
Eligibility
- Applicants must graduate from a high school or cégep in Canada during the 2026/2027 academic year and must be Canadian citizens.
- They must plan to enter an eligible STEM program at a participating Canadian university.
- They must demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset through leadership, charisma and creativity and intend to pursue technology, engineering, entrepreneurship and business enterprise, or applied scientific research.
- The program does not consider candidates focused on environmental, political or social activism, candidates planning to practise medicine or conduct medical research, or candidates intending to pursue academia or theoretical research.
- Financial need receives strong consideration but is not stated as a universal hard requirement.
- Only school- or cégep-nominated candidates may apply; direct self-nominations are not accepted.

Application process
- 1The candidate asks their high school or cégep to consider them for nomination.
- 2The school or cégep selects its nominee and submits the nomination by January 27, 2027.
- 3After verification, the nominee receives a private link to the scholarship application.
- 4The nominee submits two referee contacts, achievements, short answers, essays, a one-minute video, an academic record and a headshot by February 17, 2027; reference letters are due at the same time.
- 5The nominee applies for admission to each selected partner university, and the universities review scholarship applications and make offers.
