The Belt and Road Scholarship — Research Postgraduate is funded by the Hong Kong SAR Government for first-year non-local students from Belt and Road countries and regions. It supports full-time, publicly funded research postgraduate study in Hong Kong.

Participating institutions assess and nominate candidates on merit. The scholarship is one government scheme across institutions, although admissions deadlines and consideration procedures are institution-specific.

Benefits & funding

  • Covers the full tuition fee for the normal duration of the recipient’s research postgraduate programme.
  • Renews annually when the recipient maintains satisfactory academic performance.
  • The official scheme pages do not state a living allowance or support for other personal expenses.

Eligibility

  • Meet the admission requirements and scholarship consideration process of the participating institution.
  • Selection considers academic performance, leadership and communication, contribution to an institution or society, and commitment to the Hong Kong community.
  • The official scheme pages state no age, gender, residency, or work-experience requirement.

Application process
