Bocconi Graduate Merit Awards

Bocconi University

Application Deadline

April 29, 2027

Official Page

The Bocconi Graduate Merit Awards are tuition waivers attached to admission at Bocconi University in Milan, across its two-year Master of Science and MA programs in economics, management, finance, data science, artificial intelligence, politics and law. Bocconi considers the strongest academic profiles among its three applicant categories — International, Italian and Bocconi — and decides the award from the admission application itself, so no separate scholarship form exists. A merit award carries a 100% waiver of Bocconi’s ordinary academic tuition and fees, which are set at € 18,550 per year for a first-year MSc student in a.y. 2026-27.

The waiver renews for the second year when the holder enrolls on time and earns at least 50 credits by the stated September cut-off. Awards are allocated round by round, and Bocconi states that most scholarships go to candidates admitted in the earlier rounds.

Benefits & funding

  • A 100% waiver of Bocconi’s ordinary academic tuition and fees.
  • Reference value: tuition and fees for a first-year MSc student in a.y. 2026-27 are € 18,550 per year, paid in three installments; a two-year program carries that cost twice.
  • The waiver renews automatically for the second year when the holder completes enrollment on schedule and earns at least 50 credits by 10 September of the following year — 10 September 2027 for the a.y. 2026-27 intake.
  • Recipients pay the first installment at enrollment and receive a refund in December or January, once the Fees, Funding and Housing Office has verified regular enrollment.
  • Living costs, housing and travel are not covered. Need-based support runs separately through Bocconi4Access to Education, which does require its own application after enrollment.
  • The waiver does not apply to an out-of-course (fuori corso) year, and it is not paid for a double-degree year whose tuition is already waived under the LSE-Bocconi, Sciences Po-Bocconi or Yale-Bocconi agreements.
  • Applicants admitted to the MSc in Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, the joint degree with Politecnico di Milano, may instead be awarded the Cyber Partnership Scholarship, which follows the same rules.

Eligibility

  • Open to candidates applying to the first year of a Bocconi two-year Master of Science or MA program.
  • No nationality requirement. International, Italian and Bocconi applicants are each considered, within their own category.
  • Applicants need a valid and recognized first-cycle (undergraduate) qualification. For a.y. 2027-28 entry it must be obtained by October 2027, so final-year bachelor students can apply before graduating; the IM Asia China MIM track requires completion by June 2027.
  • Selection rests on academic achievement and the complete application dossier. There is no income test and no family financial condition.
  • Admission requires a GMAT, GRE or online Bocconi test score. The PPA and GLOBE programs run without a selection test.
  • English certification is not required for selection, but admitted candidates must supply a valid English language requirement by the enrollment deadline.
  • No age limit and no work-experience requirement are stated.
  • An award is forfeited if the holder moves to a different round for the same program or switches to a different program. A candidate admitted with a merit award to two different programs in different rounds may keep one of the two.
  • The award is revoked for accepting an equal or larger benefit, false declarations, disciplinary sanctions, failure to lift a reserve enrollment by the deadline, or withdrawal during the academic year.

Application process

  1. 1
Choose an admission round. Applications for a.y. 2027-28 open on 1 October 2026, and each round closes at 11:59 p.m. Italian time on its stated date.
  2. 2
Sit an admission test: GMAT, GRE or the online Bocconi test, whose platform opened on 14 July 2026 and can be taken up to three times a year.
  3. 3
Submit the admission application through the Bocconi portal with the full dossier. The merit award is assessed from that application, and no separate scholarship application is required.
  4. 4
Wait for the outcome before applying again. Two rounds cannot be entered at the same time, and a second application in the same academic year is allowed only after a rejection.
  5. 5
Read the award decision, which arrives with the admission result.
  6. 6
Complete the online acceptance on the myapplication portal within the enrollment deadline of the round, then complete enrollment and pay the first installment.
  7. 7
Lift any reserve enrollment by the stated deadline — for the a.y. 2026-27 intake, 30 September 2026 for international students and 30 October 2026 for Italian and Bocconi students. Benefit details then appear in the You@B agenda under Fees, Funding and Housing.
