The Chevening Scholarship is a UK Government programme funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations. The Indonesia award supports eligible Indonesian applicants to complete a one-year taught master’s degree at a UK university.
Applicants choose three eligible courses and must secure at least one unconditional offer by the published offer deadline. Scholars also take part in Chevening’s engagement programme and professional network.
Benefits & funding
- Payment of tuition fees.
- Economy travel between the recipient’s country of residence and the UK by an approved route.
- Arrival and departure allowances.
- The recipient’s UK entry-clearance application fee.
- Up to £75 toward required tuberculosis testing.
- A travel top-up allowance.
- A monthly living stipend; the rate varies according to whether the course is inside or outside London and is reviewed annually.
Eligibility
- Be an Indonesian citizen applying through the Indonesia award route.
- For this ODA-eligible-country award route, reside in an ODA-eligible country and show a clear intention to support Indonesia.
- Commit to returning to Indonesia for at least two years after the scholarship ends.
- Have at least 2,800 hours, approximately two years, of work experience acquired after completing an undergraduate degree.
- Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies the applicant for a UK master’s programme and have completed undergraduate study at least two years before the application deadline.
- Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and obtain an unconditional offer from at least one by 8 July 2027.
- Applicants are ineligible if they hold British or dual British citizenship, are resident in the UK when applying, fall within specified employment or close-relative conflicts, or previously studied in the UK with UK Government scholarship funding, subject to the published exceptions.

Application process
- 1Check the eligibility rules and select three eligible one-year taught master’s courses in the UK.
- 2Prepare an email address, phone number, two referees’ contact details, and undergraduate education evidence.
- 3Open the online application system from the Indonesia programme page and retain the unique access code.
- 4Submit the online scholarship application by 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC.
- 5If shortlisted, attend an interview and upload the required identity, undergraduate degree, and reference documents at least seven working days before the interview.
- 6If selected, submit at least one unconditional UK university offer by 8 July 2027 at 17:00 BST.
