Benefits & funding

• Full or partial tuition fee waiver. For 2026/2027 the annual rate is EUR 13,000 per 60 ECTS at Arts and Aarhus BSS, and EUR 17,300 per 60 ECTS at Natural Sciences and Technical Sciences, so a waiver is worth that much for each year of study.
• Arts and Aarhus BSS awards add a monthly grant towards living expenses, normally paid for the length of the Master’s programme. The university does not publish the amount and states the grant may not cover all living expenses in Denmark.
• The first monthly grant arrives at the start of the first semester or the month after — September or October for a September start, February or March for a February start.
• Recipients need a Danish CPR number, a NemKonto (Danish Easy Account) and a Danish tax card. Until the tax card is in place, 55 % of the grant is withheld as tax. Holders from countries designated as developing countries may receive a tax exemption.
• The scholarship does not cover the application fee of EUR 150 (DKK 1,125), which non-EU applicants pay before their application is processed and which covers up to three programme applications.

Eligibility

• Open to applicants to Aarhus University Master’s degree programmes who are liable to pay tuition fees — in practice citizens of countries outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland.
• EU, EEA and Swiss citizens cannot be considered. Nor can anyone else exempt from tuition fees, including holders of a permanent Danish residence permit and applicants admitted under family reunification.
• A completed Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent comparable to a Danish bachelor’s degree in level and duration (180 ECTS), plus the credits in relevant subject areas that the chosen programme specifies.
• Documented English language proficiency at the level the programme requires.
• The Master’s application must reach the university by the non-EU deadline — 15 January for the summer (August/September) intake, 15 September for the winter (January/February) intake. Applications after those dates are not considered for a scholarship.
• No age limit, work experience requirement or country quota is published; selection is on academic merit.

Application process

   Choose up to three Master’s degree programmes and rank them in priority order; only one offer is issued.

   Check the general admission requirements and the programme’s specific subject and language requirements.

   Gather documentation — diploma or official transcript of records, course descriptions for every course passed or in progress, and English test results (or proof of a booked test).

   Pay the EUR 150 application fee and submit the application in the Aarhus University application portal at dans.stads.dk before the non-EU deadline.

   Submit nothing further for the scholarship — the university considers every eligible applicant automatically as part of the admission assessment.

   Receive the scholarship decision around the same time as the admission offer, then accept the offer and follow the tuition payment and enrolment instructions.
