Graduate Ellison Scholars complete a full-time DPhil at the University of Oxford while working on a directly linked Ellison Institute of Technology project. The programme connects doctoral research with practical innovation across EIT research areas.
Applicants select an advertised project or, where available, propose a project in an eligible research area. Applications for October 2027 entry are expected to open in September 2026.

Eligibility
- Applicants may come from any country; EIT describes the search as worldwide.
- Applicants must meet the University of Oxford entry requirements for the full-time DPhil linked to their selected EIT project.
- A completed Master’s degree is not universally required; the relevant Oxford DPhil determines the academic qualifications needed. Applicants may apply while completing their current degree.
- Applicants must demonstrate relevant research or innovation experience, alignment with the selected project, academic excellence, collaboration, tenacity and integrity.
- EIT funds full-time research degrees only, not Master’s degrees.
