The Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship reduces tuition fees by half for international students starting an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia. The reduction runs for the full length of the degree as long as the recipient keeps up the required grades and enrolment.
Griffith teaches across campuses on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane and in Logan, and the award follows an on-campus degree — online-only, part-time-only and partner-delivered programs are excluded. Applicants must already hold a program offer, then apply for the scholarship in the round attached to their trimester intake.
A university panel selects from the eligible applicants on academic merit and a short personal statement. Griffith describes the award as going to a limited number of exceptional students and does not publish how many are granted each round.
Benefits & funding
- A 50% reduction in tuition fees for the entire eligible degree, applied while the recipient stays enrolled.
- The reduction continues for each year of the degree while the ongoing conditions are met, with the cumulative GPA reviewed annually.
- Only tuition is covered — the remaining fees, travel, health cover, accommodation and living costs stay with the recipient.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
- Applicants must be new, commencing students holding a conditional or unconditional offer for a Griffith program by the round deadline.
- A minimum GPA of 6.0 on a 7-point scale (or equivalent) in previous studies is required.
- Applicants must meet all academic and English language entry requirements for the chosen program.
- Enrolment must be full-time, commencing in 2026 or 2027.
- Only undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs qualify. Higher degree research, online programs, non-award study, study abroad, diplomas, masters qualifying programs, the MBA (program code 5158), English language programs at the Griffith English Language Institute, part-time-only programs and programs delivered through partner organisations are all excluded.
- To keep the award, recipients must remain full-time in the original program, pass every course each trimester, hold a cumulative GPA of at least 5.5 on the 7-point scale at the annual review, and keep international fee-paying status and student visa conditions.

Application process
