The Inter-American Development Bank Group runs a single paid internship program covering the IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab. Headquarters interns join one of two fixed cohorts in Washington, D.C., each lasting two months. Country-office interns work from one of 26 offices across Latin America and the Caribbean, or from the Group’s offices in Asia and Europe, for two to six months.
Interns support the team they are assigned to and build experience in international development. Headquarters work is on-site, with occasional teleworking flexibility.

Eligibility
- Active undergraduate students in at least their second year, or graduate students who have completed at least half of their coursework.
- Availability to work full time, 40 hours a week, for the whole of the stated placement dates.
- For IDB and IDB Lab roles in Washington, D.C.: citizenship of one of the 48 member countries. IDB Invest roles carry no citizenship restriction.
- For country-office roles: citizenship or legal residency of the country where that office is located.
- The internship must be the applicant’s first job at the IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
- Applicants may not have relatives working at any of those three institutions.
