International Post-degree Scholarship

Sapienza University of Rome

Application Deadline

September 16, 2026

Official Page

The International Post-degree Scholarship is an annual Sapienza University of Rome competition for graduates pursuing third-cycle study or postgraduate advanced training at a university-level institution outside Italy. It distributes 400 funded months across CUN disciplinary areas, and each applicant chooses one area matching their degree.

Awardees arrange their own host and proposed course or activity; there is no fixed list of institutions or countries. Selection combines academic qualifications with an interview, and the placement must fit the applicant’s academic background and selected CUN area.

Benefits & funding

  • €1,290 per month for a committee-approved period of 6–12 months.
  • Payment is split into two instalments: two-thirds at the start and one-third after completion.
  • The scholarship is exempt from Italian personal income tax under the cited national law.

Eligibility

  • Hold a Sapienza master’s, single-cycle master’s, or equivalent degree obtained by the final session of the 2024–25 academic year.
  • Be 28 or younger on June 15, 2026, the call’s publication date.
  • Know English and hold formal acceptance, an invitation, or a statement of willingness to admit from the proposed foreign university or supervisor.
  • Choose one CUN disciplinary area matching the degree; the proposed programme must also fit the applicant’s academic background.
  • Undertake the activity outside Italy; a non-Italian applicant must also choose a country other than their country of origin.
  • Before departure, resolve incompatible enrolment or scholarships and keep gross personal income for the scholarship year at or below €7,750.
