The University of Sydney offers this merit-based scholarship to high-achieving international students beginning an eligible coursework degree. It supports bachelor’s and coursework master’s students studying onshore in Sydney.
There is no separate scholarship application; eligible admission applicants are considered automatically after receiving an unconditional offer by a published cutoff. Selection is based on the academic merit shown in the application for admission.
Benefits & funding
- A$60,000 or A$40,000, paid over one year in two equal instalments per semester.
- A$20,000, A$10,000 or A$5,000, paid for one semester.
- Some award values may be restricted to specified cohorts, and all awards depend on available funds.
- A recipient who also holds the Sydney International Student Award can receive no more than A$40,000 through this scheme.
- Recipients of a two-instalment award must maintain a semester average mark of at least 65 and have no outstanding fees to receive the second payment.
Eligibility
- Be an international student under the applicable Australian higher-education definition.
- Have applied for, but not started, a CRICOS-registered bachelor’s degree or coursework master’s degree normally delivered onshore at the University of Sydney.
- Receive an unconditional admission offer by the relevant scholarship round cutoff.
- A student beginning a second University of Sydney degree may be considered only if they have not previously held this scholarship.
- Recipients of Australian Government scholarships are not eligible.

Application process

- 2Submit the admission application with the required academic records, English-language evidence and identity documents. Most applicants with overseas qualifications apply from the course page or through an authorised agent; specified Australian Year 12 and IB applicants use UAC.
- 3Secure an unconditional admission offer by the preferred scholarship round cutoff. No separate scholarship form is required.
- 4If selected, accept the unconditional offer by the deadline linked to the scholarship offer round and remain enrolled after census date.
