The York International Merit Award is an automatic entrance scholarship for international high-school applicants entering full-time undergraduate study at York University. It also covers applicants granted advanced standing of fewer than 24 transfer credits.
For the published Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 cycle, York places eligible applicants in this award band using their final admission average. No separate scholarship application is required.
Benefits & funding
- C$10,000 in the first year.
- C$5,000 in each of years two, three and four, for a maximum of C$25,000.
- Renewable and regainable after completing at least 24 credits in an academic year with a minimum 7.5 GPA (B+).
- The award is automatically applied at the start of each year level.
Eligibility
- Be an international high-school applicant to a full-time York University undergraduate program and pay international tuition fees.
- Have a final admission average of 80–89.9%, or the equivalent York determines for the applicant’s curriculum.
- Applicants with advanced standing remain eligible only when they have fewer than 24 transfer credits.
- No nationality, residence, age, gender or work-experience requirement is stated.
